Join the Stark Museum of Art and Dr. James Clifton, Director of the Sarah Campbell Blaffer Foundation, on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from Noon – 1:00 p.m. (central daylight time) for Lunch & Look @ Home: The Hunting Dog, ‘that useful, that honest, that faithful, that disinterested, that entertaining animal.’ This special Lunch & Look @ Home will give participants the opportunity to explore the importance of the hunting dog in art as seen in the Stark Museum of Art’s special exhibition “A Noble Pastime: Hunting Pictures from the Collection of the Sarah Campbell Blaffer Foundation.” Advanced registration is required for this FREE program. Registration will close on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. (central daylight time).

Program participants will have the opportunity to hear directly from the special exhibition curator as he discusses representations of hunting dogs from the sixteenth through nineteenth centuries.  These works of art highlight the importance of dogs in the enjoyment of the hunting adventure and the success of the hunt.

“We are very pleased that the curator of the exhibition, James Clifton, will give this presentation.  We are also very grateful that the Sarah Campbell Blaffer Foundation makes it possible for Dr. Clifton to participate in our programming.  This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about works of art in ‘A Noble Pastime,’” commented Sarah E. Boehme, Stark Museum of Art Curator.

This Lunch & Look @ Home program will be facilitated live through Zoom from the Stark Museum of Art in Orange, Texas and the Sarah Campbell Blaffer Foundation in Houston, Texas. Participants are encouraged to download Zoom prior to the event. For more information, including tutorials for using Zoom, please visit the Resources page on the Zoom website

The live program will be recorded and available at a later date on the Stark Museum of Art website and Stark Art & History YouTube channel.

This program is offered in conjunction with the special exhibition “A Noble Pastime: Hunting Pictures from the Collection of the Sarah Campbell Blaffer Foundation” on view at the Stark Museum of Art through Saturday, April 8, 2023.
